my favorite place

Yesterday I was at my doctor's office.
We were chatting about my cancer journey and she said,
"Now that you are doing so well, I think you two should head to the beach."
We took her seriously!
I just made reservations to go here in the near future.
Yes,
Walk out of the door and right down to the beach.
It cannot get much closer.
I am so excited!!
I will probably spend a lot of time in that rocker as well.

So, let me put a couple of swim suits, some shorts and tee shirts,
my books, and my sunblock in a bag and be on my way.
Hopefully the ocean will still be warm.
It can't come soon enough.

Thanking God this afternoon for blessings like this.
My favorite place on earth is still the beach!

Hey, if you need me I'll be down on the beach under an umbrella reading & relaxing!

God's handiwork

I am constantly amazed at the beautiful things I see.
This lovely was outside of a restaurant just minding its own business.
Even with a flower that is here today and gone tomorrow,
God does His best work.
Oh how I look forward to His Kingdom.
What glories must await us there!
I love my life and my people,
but I long for heaven.
Just to have the weight of sin lifted.
I cannot even imagine.

A couple of things...
I am not convinced that the little pills to help my food taste better are working.
They do create a little more moisture in my mouth,
but it doesn't last.
Probably will stop taking.

Optimistically, though, I do think things are improving.
I am off of the Panera Broccoli Cheese soup...
Finally!!
Ingesting the same thing for two meals every day for 4 months
had caused my mouth to become a salt pit.
I think the salt was inhibiting my taste buds.
Being off of the soup since this past Sunday is revolutionary.
I think it is helping.
I am having to make myself decide to choose
new and different things to eat.
Those who know me well know what a challenge this is.
Eating still not a pleasure for me.
😞

Have you noticed that the days are starting to get shorter?
Seems as if, like it or not, summer is leaving us.
I won't miss the heat but I will miss the light.
Almost time for pumpkins, and candles, and sweaters.
I do love the anticipation of fall!

"even to your old age and gray hairs"

Sustain...
To give support to.
to give relief,
To supply with sustenance,
Nourish,
To support the weight of,
To bear up under.

God our Father,
Jesus Christ His son,
The Holy Spirit,
The Christian's God ~ The Three-In-One,
Sustains us.

Rescue...
Redeem,
Deliver,
Ransom,
Reclaim,
Save.
The Bible tells us that our God sustains us and rescues us.

What an Amazing God!
"My tongue shall talk of your righteousness all the day long."
Psalm 71:24

When life is hard,
When illness comes,
When you lose your job,
When loneliness abounds,
When your plans are shattered,
When you lose someone you love,
When people have no idea what you are going through
or what you have been through
and really don't care,
When you think you cannot go on,
We have this God who sustains us and rescues us.
He literally carries us through the hard times.

Our job is to get all of the minutiae of this earthly life out of our mind and
remember...
God.
He made us,
He carries us,
He sustains us,
He rescues us.

Open His word.
It is all there.
Everything we need to know.

❤️

Thanking God this afternoon for my husband who constantly
points me to God and His word.
He was by my side when I was young and remains now to my old age and graying hair.
He continues to support me as I recover from a quite devastating illness that changed everything.
He still thinks I'm beautiful.
He has always been faithful to me...
I never had to doubt.
He told me last week once again that I was the best thing that ever happened to him.
Thank you Bubba ....
You are my most treasured earthly blessing.
I love You!!

❤️

saturdays at grammy and granddaddy's

For me it is the best day of the week...
on Saturday when we all get together for a meal.
The week days are busy with school and work,
but Saturday, O how I love you!!

Bubba and I cook all day.
At around 5:00 the back door opens and in they come.
"What's for dinner gram?"
Gram, did you make dessert?"
Hugs abound.
When we gather around the table, we all talk at once.
"How did school go this week?"
" I have a bug project."
"I love volleyball."
"Gram, I may be going to New York for my birthday."
"We are going to Sea World on a class trip."
Then they kids go play and we have a little adult time with David and Erika.
Oh how wonderful is all the catching up!

Since I've been getting well, these visits mean the world to me!
They lift my spirits way up high.
Thank you Lord for these children.
I love them all so much!

Here is the silly picture.....
We always have to take one!

peonies

When in
Doubt
add

Peonies...

Could these beauties be any more exquisite?
My favorite flower.
They won't grow here.
A vase full quite thrills my soul.
Wish I would have carried them on my wedding day.
God thank you for Peonies.
They are a perfect example of Your skill and creativity.
You make everything beautiful.

13 person selfie

This is from our family vacation.
David took this 13 person selfie at Jupiter Inlet.
I love it!

All of the kids in this picture have gone back to school.
Except for Walt that is.
He is three and doesn't go to school yet.

Jake ~ 7th grade
Lucy ~ 7th grade
Eli ~ 6th grade
Harry ~ 5th grade
Archie ~ 3rd grade
Gus ~ 2nd grade

I've been doing lots of praying for these guys.
School is hard work.
They must obey their teachers,
do their work as unto the Lord,
get along with their class mates,
listen well,
ask good questions,
study hard!
I pray for all of these things and for safety as well.
Most of all I pray that God would draw each one of them unto Himself,
and that they would all come to know and love Jesus.

These children are such precious gifts.
Thank you Lord for each one of them.

the blessings of home

Big, tall windows with light flooding in.
Flowers on the porch that I can see from within.
An antique dining room suite,
scratches, and nicks, and all.
A beautiful chandelier making prisms on the wall.
Our Thomas Kincade...
Hometown Chapel.

A close-up of those flowers.
They are sitting on an antique Singer sewing machine.
They are planted in an antique fireplace grate.
Thank you to Bubba for making these flowers happen for me.
Thank you to the deer for staying away and letting them grow.

A comfy place to sit and read.
This room is all windows.
I feel like I am sitting in the yard here.
Notice the gorgeous bamboo throw...
a gift from a friend during my recovery.

A touch of whimsy here and there.
White lights around the pass through.
Sparkling stars.
My farm sink.
The huge, unexpected airplane...
a nod to Bubba's career in the Air Force.
Hodie's antique mirror.

The summer bed.
White quilt and shams.
White Linens.
Gray, ruffled Europeans.
Comfortable.
The bulge is a bar of soap we sleep with every night.
It keeps leg cramps (Bubba) far away.
It smells nice too.

A picture I took and had made into a canvas.
This is Tybee at it's finest.
A pillow I love!!

A place to sit when guests come over.
French doors to the porch.
Again...that flood of light.
Moma and Daddy's antique chairs.
My favorite bookcases filled with memories.
Lots of good times have happened here.

My desk!
My world!
I do everything here.
It's the one place I allow to be messy.
Too much happens here for it to be tidy.

Another peek out of a window.
I cannot say how many times a day I look outside
and thank our God in heaven for the beauty of His creation.
Our flowers make both of us happy!

This house is filled with memories of things that I love.
Every shell in this container was hand picked from some beach somewhere
either by me or one of our grandkids.
Hodie's antique chair covered in beach fabric.
This is the beach room.

Pictures, pictures everywhere.
Framed memories of the grandkids growing up.
Yes, the pictures from our family vacation this year
are already on display.

This August marks five years since we moved into this house.
We searched long and hard for the home God had for us.
Living here has been a blessing from the very beginning.
I loved choosing the colors and the floors and everything.
For the last six months the house has been an extra special blessing.
I've spent many long, lonely days house bound while recuperating from cancer.
It is comfortable and comforting.
I cannot say enough thanksgivings to our God for His provision.

happy birthday erika

Yesterday was Erika's birthday.
We celebrated into the night with food, gifts, and games.
The best part is just being together...
sharing what's new and laughing,
just enjoying the fellowship.

We had steaks and hash brown potato casserole and David's famous salad.
I made an Atlantic beach Pie which is Erika's favorite.
Gathering around the big farm table to eat is the best!

Erika is the busy mom of five growing children
who all love life to the fullest.
We are so thankful for her!
Her eyes sparkle when she smiles and she lights up a room.

Yesterday morning I took Lucy to get her back to school haircut.
Doesn't she look super cute?
Archie is wearing his Dad's jersey.
Harry loves to run around the outside of our house trying to beat his best time.
Walt seems overwhelmed with it all,
and Gus appears to be praying.
I love them all!!

The flowers are from my garden.
Life is sweet with kids around.
I am getting better...
more able to get out and do things again.

peter pan

It's the first ride we rush to when we go to Disney World.
Every time Harry spends the night we absolutely must watch it together.
It's for people who actually never really grew up...
in their minds they still like to play make believe.
I love the story of Peter Pan.

"You know that place between sleep and awake,
the place where you can still remember dreams?
That's where I'll always love you.
That's where I'll be waiting."
Peter Pan ❤️
