always up for a party

A few days ago,
when the kids had been back in school for about a week,
we had a
"Happy First Week of  School"
Party.

There was a
"Grammy's Homemade Pecan Pie" for dessert,
"A Roast and Mashed Potatoes" dinner,
and a Game to celebrate.
The Game was "Student Jeopardy."

When the children thought of the correct answer,
they pressed the "That Was Easy Button."
Then they gave their answer in the form of a question.

The category of questions was
"Things Pertaining to and About School."
David did the "Final Jeopardy"round.
His questions pertained to...
wait for it....
The Bible.

Each exceptional student got a
monetary prize.
When it was all over Lucy said,
"That was awesome Grammy."

After dinner David went out and deadheaded my Basil
which is taking over my garden.

I just have one thing to day...
I am very embarrassed.
The Grammy,
the former teacher,
the voracious reader,
spelled Jeopardy wrong on the sign for the game.
I have always struggled with spelling. :(

ps....
The storm is still coming straight for Savannah. :)

no surfing

Got this notice just now on my phone.
Looks like I will not be able to swim in the ocean
for a few days. :(
Bubba and I almost scheduled
"My week at the beach"
for these days.
So very glad we didn't.

There are a lot of storms out there churning....
This always bring excitement.
Will definitely go to the beach to see, but not feel,
the high surf.

We'll see what happens.
We could sure use some rain.
Too much brown in our carpet of grass.

hhi

We went to Hilton Head Island this afternoon.
It was still very hot,
but no crowds at all.
Had lunch at Jim & Nicks
and then across the island to Harbor Town.

Lu and I just chillin'.

Kind of deserted...
That's when I like it the best!!

My love.

How many pictures have been taken of this lighthouse?

Harry caught Arch is the new minnow net.

These six....

Thankful for my family!
They take real good care of me.

Blessed beyond measure I am!

lemon curd

I have always loved lemon curd.
It tastes great on waffles and toast,or just by itself.
I always get it at Trader Joes
when I'm lucky enough to get there.

Lucy....

our granddaughter,
who just started sixth grade
(middle school),
who got her ears pierced this summer,
loves to cook.

Well, she found a recipe
and made me a batch of lemon curd from scratch.
The Trader Joe's lemon curd
pales in comparison.
It is so delicious!
Lucy is amazing in so many ways!

I am so thankful for her.
I am also thankful that she likes to
cook and sew.

these boys......

Jake and Eli.
our grandsons,
all dressed up and ready to go to church.
Maybe there was a little hesitation.
You know, ties can be very uncomfortable,
but there is just something uplifting about
dressing up a bit to go to the church to worship God.

These boys are best of friends.
They look out for one another and their interests
just happen to coincide.

I love these boys
and I am very thankful for them.

Also, thankful for Amanda.
She had jury duty this week and served faithfully.
She even has a certificate to prove.

I am going to make a concentrated effort to write again.
They say its good for me.

happy birthday erika

Beautiful mommy with her four amazing children.
We celebrated her birthday last evening.

This is the card Archie made for his mom.
I love to study these to see what they see in the people they draw.
Huge smiles on both,
really long legs and short bodies,
crazy short arms with exaggerated hands,
extra large earrings which Erika never wears,
and her ever present knot of hair on the very top of her head.
Good job Arch!
I love that he spelled his name perfectly,
but backwards.

The kids worked together for two days planning a skit....
Batman and Superman Save the City.
Harry and Lucy designed the costumes and made them out of construction paper.
Gus was the villain who was captured and put into jail.
We were treated to great entertainment
and we laughed till we cried.
Gus is jumping on the day bed in the background
and putting on his own little show,

We cooked steaks and I made the
Atlantic Beach Pie,
Yummy dinner before the play.

This one is a bit fuzzy, but I love the smiles!

Some last birthday shenanigans before the party ended.

It was a wonderful evening!
