well again and glad

We finally got to celebrate David's birthday.
It was better late than never,
here's why...
The flu!

Archie started the great fall.
Then Harry and Gus went down,
then Walt.
All four boys sick with the dreaded malady.
David called his home an infirmary.
They were really so sick.
Lots of prayer,
Erika's nursing,
Granddaddy's chicken soup,
then, after a week....
the word went out that they were starting to get better.

In fact,
the flu epidemic got so bad,
that their school had to shut it's doors on Thursday and Friday of last week.
Never seen anything like it.
Lucy and her mom and dad stayed well.
So thankful for that!!

So David's birthday felt like a real celebration for everyone.
We had steak,
hash brown casserole,
and David's famous romaine salad.
I made a chocolate surprise, and we partied until late in the night.
Well, it really wasn't that late,
but it just felt so good that everyone was well again.

it's david's birthday today

It's 76 degrees today.
I just returned from a nice, long walk.
I am making good progress.

Forty four years ago today I was giving birth.
That little bundle of joy in my arms
was and is a great source of joy.
We named him David.

So much to be thankful for today.
David grew up and married his sweet Erika
and they blessed us with five grandchildren.
I don't know what is more wonderful,
children or grandchildren.

Thank you Lord for this full rich life.
For all of the blessings that have come from you.
For the joys that make us happy and content,
and for the trials and sorrow that make us know You better
and rest in Your precious word.

Happy Birthday David!

God sent us snow today

For almost five hours it snowed.
In the middle of the day.
I watched the whole show.
It was absolutely amazing, peaceful, serene.
There is nothing more profound than when God sends snow.

The ice came first to make everything really cold,
and then it snowed, and snowed, and snowed.

All plans for the day got cancelled.
the city of Savannah shut completely down.
Not a creature was stirring.

Bubba went out to get this picture.
The first time #6 has seen snow.
He kept calling it a winter wonderland.
I love him for loving the snow with me.

My Christmas front door wreath thrown down in the snow.

Our Christmas tree was made a thing of beauty one more time.

Me waving from the front door.
What joy!
A perfect day!
I gazed at the snow until the sun went down.
It's been so long since I've seen this much snow.
Thank you Lord!!

"For He says to the snow, be on the earth."
Job 37:6

"Have you entered the treasury of snow?"
Job 38 22

Happy New Year ~ 2018

May the little baby Jesus
Who was born and placed in a manger over 2000 years ago by His mother the virgin Mary,
Who grew to be a man,
Who lived a sinless life,
Who died on a cross to pay for our sins,
Who rose again on the third day,
Who is now seated at the right hand of God in the heavenlies,
find a place to rest in your heart this year.

May the truth of His word fill your soul with joy and peace.
May you find comfort in your sorrow,
love in your fear,
rest in your striving,
understanding as you seek Him in His word.

Happy New Year!
