hope bible church baby shower

The baby shower at my house yesterday was a huge success.
From babes in the womb to our latest newborns,
from children to teenagers to adults.
Everybody loves a party and we had one last night.
Heather and Casey in the center are our expecting moms.

It was a Mexican Fiesta.
These ladies bought their finest food offerings
and we laid them all out and ate.
I don't know which was best, the food or the fun and fellowship.
I think it just all goes together to make for a very soul-nourishing time.

I love all of these ladies.
What a blessing Hope Bible Church is.

Can't wait to meet baby boy Adrian and baby girl Daisy very soon.

More pictures soon.

3 ~ 7 ~ 2 ~ 29 ~ 2020

Most of all...
"Simply their presence."

God is good all the time and He knows what is best for me.
May I, each day, humbly submit to His will.

getting ready for the shower

The baby shower is tomorrow (Friday) evening here at my home.
I am deep into prep work today.
God is so, so good.

The next few days hours and minutes will be extremely busy as we make it come together.
I am honored to open my home and show hospitality.
I get to be creative in my decorating.

I love the blurb above.
With the exception of drinking tea,
(I prefer coffee)
and reading to my children,
I'm deep in with all the other activities.
Also,
lots of prayers are going up that I will honor God and not be anxious.

Thank You, God, for the expecting moms that will be honored.
You create life and we celebrate.
May all go well with them and their families.
To God be ALL the glory!

yard crew

Sunday afternoon these three guys came over to my house.
I needed help planting flowers, laying pine straw, and cutting scrub bushes.
I told them their payment would be a trip to Cici's Pizza.
They even brought some things down out of the attic.
They are good workers.
They earned their dinner.

You see,
I'm hosting a baby shower here at my house this weekend.
I'm sprucing things up a bit.

At last count, there are 32 guests coming.
My dilemma is...
where am I going to seat everybody?
Erika is coming over this afternoon to help me think that through.
In the meantime,
I am gathering candles and candle holders,
pink and blue tulle bows,
flowers,
and all things beautiful to make a wonderland.
All of the ladies are bringing the food.
It's a Mexican fiesta.
I'll keep you posted as this progresses.

Anyway,
I bought two jumbo pumpkins ๐ŸŽƒ at the grocery today.
Me and the girl who loaded my things into the van hoisted them into the back.
Now I've got to figure out how to get them unloaded
I think this is another job for my grandboys.

It's wonderful, beautiful fall

I was at my favorite plant nursery early Saturday morning.
They had outdone themselves with pumpkin displays.
I went all around taking pictures.
It just made me happy.

I didn't buy much,
a few plants, a bag of planting soil, and a bale of pine straw,
but it was enough to get my desire to work in the yard started.

When Fall comes it is a bit of a relief.
It's like you cannot endure one more day of intense heat.
And then there it is,
so unexpected.
You step outside into a cool, crisp wonderland.
It takes your breath away.
It's back in the nineties today but that's alright.
Cooler weather is coming.
I can smell it in the air.

I liked this line-up.
Nothing fancy!
The pumpkins speak for themselves.

I ๐Ÿงก Pumpkins!

tvbee island ~ little gem by the atlantic ocean

Another perspective of Tybee Island.
It is very small.
This shot is looking north.
My tiny beach condo is straight north and to the left a little bit.
That's Back River to the left.
I've walked those sandy shores so many times in my life.
I love this little beach town ~ It just feels like home to me.

The weather is changing y'all.
The days are getting shorter.
Autumn is here.
Can't believe we made it through another sweltering Savannah summer.
I need to switch gears and decorate my house for Fall.
That's a lot of work but it's so much fun when I get into it.

For now, we are enjoying a beautiful Indian summer.
I'll take that for sure!

HOPE

So many have died recently,
some suddenly, some after a long time of suffering,
Our hope is in the death and resurrection of Jesus on the cross.
He came to die
so that our sins could be forgiven
and so that we might be reconciled with God and have eternal life with Him.
When Jesus ascended back to heaven He was victorious over
sin,
satan,
 and death.

Therefore,
we do not grieve without hope.
We will see our loved ones again if they are "In Christ."
They are with Jesus safe and secure,
no longer in pain, no longer suffering.
Hallelujah!
What a Savior!

sweet 16

This is the only good picture I got of Harry's birthday party.
As I age I can't do what I used to do.
Before I could juggle a hundred different plates and keep them going.
Not anymore.
I can throw a party or take amazing photographs,
but I can no longer do both at the same time.

I love all of these people
I keep studying this group of faces.
One is obviously mad but everybody else looks happy.

The party was a huge success.

one more time

This morning I couldn't wait to get up.
I knew I had one more segment in Revelation to read and I would be done.
I finished reading my Bible through again.
Started on January 1, 2023.
Finished today, September 16, 2023.
What a joy and privilege!
What a blessing!

Our church family meets together one Sunday evening each month.
David takes us through a quick synopsis of what we have read.

Reading through the Bible can be difficult.
I missed some days,
took some breaks.
There were times I was lost and didn't understand but I persevered.

I have a Hebrew /Greek study Bible.
I read all the notes,
most of them more than once.
God illumines His word when you pray for wisdom,
He makes it come alive in your heart and mind.

The last page of my Bible.
Full of such hope and promise.
I highly recommend that you read God's word in these troubling times.
In it, God reveals His plan from beginning to end.

"For the word of God
is living and active and sharper than any two-edged sword,
and piercing as far as the division of soul and spirit,
 of both joints and marrow,
and able to judge the thoughts and intentions of the heart."
Hebrews 4:12

Happy Birthday Harry!

Our Harry is turning 16 today!
There will be a big party scene here at my house this evening.
Presents, his favorite cake, and lawn darts in the backyard
because the weather is finally nice enough.
Hamburgers and hot dogs cooked on the grill and funny people singing
"Happy Birthday"
 To you.

Harry is a unique kind of joy.
His "dreamy eyes" still melt my heart!

May you grow up to be a strong man of God.
I ๐Ÿ’™ You!

these two hurricanes...

...are of no threat to our little curve on the East Coast.
I just thought they,
Lee & Margot,
made a very pretty picture.
God's wonders are everywhere.
I ๐Ÿ’— to watch the weather!

All that to say...
earlier today my power went out.
I got a notice from GA Power saying that it would be restored by 4:30 PM.
There is no bad weather,
it's a little cloudy but that doesn't cause power outages.
I panicked because I have a fridge full of supplies that I just bought yesterday.
Last time for Hurricane Idalia I had to throw most everything away.
Thankfully my power has come back on.

This is what I think happened.
There is so much construction in my neighborhood right now.
Probably a line was cut by heavy machinery.

Look at that sky
And how well my new tree is doing!

I'll always remember...

...where I was on 9/ll/2021.
We lived in Fayetteville, Georgia.
Bubba was at work.
My parents had come for a visit.
We were headed to Warm Springs to eat lunch at the Bullock House.
It was a beautiful day,
bright, sunshiny skies bathed in a sea of blue.
After that day life would never be quite the same.
Innocence was lost.
Bad people could creep into our country and do unspeakable acts of terror.
We briefly came together as a country and mourned our great loss.

At that time we could have never imagined our country today...
that in just over twenty years we could have sunk so low into depravity.
My heart broke then and it is breaking now for all that is lost.

Join me in fervent prayer for our country.
Pray for all of our elected officials,
those in authority over us,
those who seek to destroy our beautiful land and all it stands for.
Pray that God would change their hearts and put the righteousness of Jesus Christ in them.
Pray that He would give them wisdom from above to govern justly and fairly.

May God have mercy on us
as we wait for Jesus to come and take us to be with Him.

Believe

I'm glad I know this about my God!
It makes living in this evil world much less stressful.
He is sovereign over all creation.
He knows perfectly well what He is doing.
We can fully trust Him with our future if we are in Christ Jesus!

when i cannot see what i'm reading anymore...

...it all of a sudden dawns on me that I need to wash my readers.
I get a big bowl,
Fill it with hot water, Dawn detergent, and vinegar,
Whip up lots of suds,
and drop the glasses in.
After soaking in this mixture for about an hour,
I rinse them well and set them on the counter to dry.
A final polishing with a clean, soft towel,
and they are ready to go!
It always amazes me how well I can see words on paper when I do this.

Why don't I do it more often?
I really don't know.
The effort is so worth the results.
I have reading glasses at every spot in my house, my car, and in my purse.

Heading to church last Sunday.
Keeping the baby nursery for Sunday School.
Me and my friend Jamie are there every Sunday morning bright and early.
Little ones tend to cry when they come to nursery because of separation anxiety.
It's so good when they see the same faces every time and begin to feel safe and happy.

I treated myself to a new pair of shoes.
They are orange.
Nice segway into Fall.
Still very hot!
Will have a lot more summer in Savannah.

I also treated myself to this exercise table.
I have committed to strengthening myself...
Core,
Hips, Legs, Knees, etc.
I needed a stable, raised, hard surface to exercise from.
Archie put it together for me.
I am very excited.

There is someone out there in my reader-verse who will recognize this gorilla
and be glad to know that my teenage grandkids still love to have him around.
He makes funny sounds and makes me laugh every time I hear him.
One of those teenagers decided that he should reside in the pouch on the side of my table.
I ๐Ÿ’— this guy and the friend who passed him along to us.

for all you weary souls out there, this...

Hold on to hope in these weary days.
Jesus is coming soon.
When the last soul redeemed by His blood is brought in,
He will come to get us.
Rejoice always!
His word is true. It cannot fail.
Believe and trust.
Pray without ceasing.
