I was a young Mom when I first heard John MacArthur preach the word.
I would drop my little ones off at school and come back home to walk around Lake Mayer.
I found him on my Walkman and listened to one of his sermons almost every day.
Things had deteriorated significantly at our church.
Lots of in-fighting, with not much truth being spoken.
The more I listened and walked,
The more I realized there was something different about this preacher.
He was speaking directly from God's word...
One book, one chapter, one verse at a time.
He spoke clearly in a way I could understand what God had to say to me.
The more I tuned in, the more excited I became.
The Spirit of God gave me a hunger for His word that I had never had before.
This man had the words that bring life, and I couldn't get enough.
To this day,
I still listen to John MacArthur's sermons every chance I get.
I have read so many of his books.
I have had the honor of being present at Grace Community Church on numerous occasions while David attended The Master's Seminary in Sun Valley, California.
It was a great joy to hear him preach in person.
His influence helped me to know that I needed to trust Jesus as my Lord and Savior.
This past week, I have grieved this loss.
It is the end of an era.
He cannot be replaced.
I'm so glad I got to live in his "era' and sit under his teaching.
He is seeing by sight.
He is with Jesus.
"Preach the word;
Be ready in season and out of season;
reprove,
rebuke,
exhort,
With great patience and instruction."
