reading....

...a book about the holocaust.
A young Jewish girl lost everything,
her home, her possessions, every member of her family.
She ended up in a concentration camp,
working right next door to the crematorium,
the place where her father was headed
when she went the other way to become a debased slave,
working and living in the most inhumane
set of circumstances,
ruled by evil and ungodly men who were told
they were
"fighting for their country."

Reading this is hard...
very upsetting.
I am a great fan of history so I persevere.
This really happened.
Over 6 million people were murdered
in Germany
in the early years of 1940.

I think about what is happening in our country,
how easy it is for people to follow a charismatic leader.
A man who is full of charm,
but who deals in lies and deception.
One who can whip up with words
a mass following of people looking for something
to grab hold of,
some kind of hope that will give them a better future.
Hitler was such a man.

Hope doesn't come from the government.
The only hope we have is in
Jesus Christ.
Jesus Christ transforms hearts,
gives people hope for an eternal future
free from sin and evil.
He puts truth into our inner being so that whatever we have to endure,
He will be with us and see us through.

We have no promises that something similar can't happen
right here in the grand old USA, and soon.
We think we live in "The Land of the Free."
Our freedoms are going away,
little by little every day,
unbeknownst to most of our people.

Without God, without morality, without integrity, without accountability
there is chaos.
Without Christ there is no hope.
