Jesus died so that we can live

Today is Good Friday.
This is the day that Jesus was crucified.
He died a horrendously excruciating death
on a cross made from a tree.

Isn't it fitting
that a terrible storm has darkened our sky today.
On the day that Jesus died the Bible notes this...
"Then the sun was darkened..."

On the top of His cross these words were written in
Greek, Hebrew, and Latin...
"THIS IS THE KING OF THE JEWS."

Most importantly.
 He died.
He didn't swoon or temporarily become unconscious.
He died right there on the cross.
The Bible tells us...
"He breathed His last."

There were many eyewitnesses.
"All His acquaintances and the women who followed Him from Galilee stood at a distance, watching these things."
"A man named Joseph took His body down,
wrapped it in linen,
and laid it in a tomb that was hewn out of the rock, where no one had ever lain before.

The ones who had killed Him had this to say...
"Therefore command that the tomb be made secure
lest His disciples come by night and steal Him away,
and say to the people,
'He has risen from the dead.
You have a guard;
go your way,
make the tomb as secure as you know how.'
So they went and made the tomb secure,
sealing the stone and setting the guard."

And so the day ended with our Lord Jesus dead and sealed inside of a tomb.
Taken from Matthew, Luke, and John

"But He was wounded for our transgressions,
He was bruised for our iniquities,
The chastisement for our peace was upon Him,
and by His stripes we were healed.'
Isaiah 53:5

He took our sins upon Himself that day.
He died for us.
He purchased with the blood that he shed our eternal salvation.
God was satisfied with what He did.
Can you see how what happened on that awful Friday long ago was actually very, very good?

This is not the end of the story!!!!
