happy fourth of july

We celebrated our freedoms well yesterday.
Two of us were missing...
Gus is in North Carolina with his other cousins and granddaddy is in heaven.
After an afternoon of games, we gathered around the table to eat.
We had hot dogs and hamburgers,
Amanda's tasty baked beans,
my famous potato salad,
corn on the cob,
chips and dip,
strawberries,
watermelon,
and,
my legendary chocolate surprise for dessert.

🍉

We played so many fun games.
the spoon game,
the name game,
and the always entertaining,
lawn darts.
Some of the winners included
David, who had multiple wins,
Eli, a magnificent comeback in the spoons game,
and Harry, who won the name game for the first time ever.
There was lots of cheering, whooping, and hollering.

We ended the evening with a magnificent fireworks display.
Mark and Jake and Eli went over to South Carolina yesterday morning
and came home with enough fireworks to rival any fireworks display I have ever seen.
We even had patriotic music playing loudly.
Who knows what the neighbors were thinking.

Last but not least, we got out the sparklers,
 fire sticks we call them.
Amanda put on a quite exciting cartwheel performance for us as well.
There was singing and dancing, laughter and fun.
What a fun time we had!

This morning...

Mark and Amanda and the boys just left,
the kitty went with.

I cried.
I'll be okay though, in a couple of days.
If not I will be visiting the local Humane Society.
