the last day of august

It saddens me to see summer go away.
Yes it is still plenty hot and humid but,
the nights come quicker and the mornings take longer to arrive and,
there's just that feeling that it is slipping away.

Yesterday would have been my mother's 84th birthday.
We took a beautiful begonia to her grave on our way to church.
I know she would be heartbroken by what has happened to her family.

"For it is not an enemy who reproaches me,
then I could bear it:
nor is it one who hates me who has exalted himself against me,
then I could hide myself from him."

"But it is you, a man my equal,
my companion and my familiar friend."

"We who had sweet fellowship together,
walked in the house of God in the throng."

Psalm 55: 12 ~ 14
